Outdoor yarning circle opening

NAIDOC celebrations 2019

This year KLPS had our NAIDOC celebrations a little early.

Our NAIDOC celebrations cooincided with National Reconciliation Week and included the official opening of our outdoor yarning circle (with Christine Anu and a smoking ceremony conducted by Uncle Lex Dadd) and a special performance from Christine Anu and her guitarist Raymond Shek.

We were privleged to have special guests on the day including Aunty Colleen Mitchell (AEC Nirimba), Aunty Debra Hinton, Aunty Daphne Bell, Uncle Lex Dadd, Rick Seretis (Director of Schools Quakers Hill), and of course, Christine Anu and Raymond Shek.

The Koori group students stood proudly beside Christine Anu as she opened the yarning circle that they have designed with the support of Mrs Hutton during weekly Koori time lessons. All students are very excited to use our new outdoor learning and play space.
